Tandy accepted the sandwich from the waiter and slowly began to eat, delicately picking at it. She glanced up at him and teased,"Are you a telepath, Gabriel?"
She toyed with the corner of the saran wrap. "Apathy. I guess that's the perfect word...I'm not sure I can hate." She looked at him intensely, "What if they're not worth the effort? What if it's not their fault..."
Her chest ached. She pushed down the painful pressure and swallowed. She may have to see a doctor about that.
She forced a smile. She'd already ruined most of the evening for this stranger, she might as well let him finish his sandwich without having to talk philosophy.
"Well, I'm sorry for bringing all these dark thoughts out. Most of the time, I'm quite fun to be around." Tandy said brightly. "Let's talk about something else."

He looked at her and he took a bite of his sandwich. he set it down and smiled a bit. " Tandy, I think you've been spending too much time in the darkness. I think it is threatening to blow out that beautiful light that glows inside you. " He leaned forward a bit. " Now, that would be a shame. Let me help you stave off that darkness. "
His left eye was glowing slightly as she began to feel that warm light inside her. It began to pulse and felt as if it were growing. She could feel it inside her filling every part of her being. She'd be surprised if she didn't start glowing brightly. But somehow she didn't. That warm, light she had felt inside her since her transformation seemed to come alive. She felt as if she had more power than she'd ever thought she could possibly hold. She felt as if she were invunerable.
He only smiled at her as she experienced this.

Dagger gasped, suddenly flooded with goodness and light and warmth. Her fingertips began to glow and she raised them to her face.
How long had it been since she'd actually had that kind of steady power?
She looked at Gabriel, her face full of half-fear and half-awe. "How can you do this?"

He smiled lightly looking at her. He leaned forward a bit. " That is my gift , Tandy, and if I can use it to bring a beautiful angel back to our world, then I wouldn't hesitate to do so. "
He looked at her face, ignoring the people around them who were gasping as the woman's illuminescence. "If you want me to stop, please just say so. It seemed to me you were floundering under all the darkness, I just gave you a boost. "

"Thank you," Tandy said softly and reached for his hand. The sickness inside subsided. It was like having hope and life again. She smiled and for the first time, it felt truly genuine. She teased, "So are you my guardian angel, Gabriel?"
"It won't last but it certainly helps." She got up from the table, reaching for her purse. "I have to go. There's a second performance on tonight and I have to be there...Do you want to come?"

He took her hand, she could feel the energy surge lightly between them. " I'm no angel. " He said, I'm a god. was more what he thought.
" I would love to come to your performance, Tandy. It would complete my night. " he said with a smile. he stood up and readied to leave as she did.
The people around were murmuring and gasping. Some people were even muttering the word "mutie' in some context. Gabriel didn't care, they didn't matter. As Tandy had said, they were not worth even thinking about.
" I will see you this evening then. ", he said with a smile.

"All right." She scribbled the theater's address down and jotted her cell number too. He'd helped her, she could at least pretend to trust him. He didn't seem evil but even full of light, she was also aware that people often failed you.
"See you soon." She waved and left the deli.
Stepping into the street, she thought she sensed Cloak. Just a bit of hazy black in the shadows...

"Hello, Tandy." Cloak said quietly, he hadn't meant for her to notice him. She looked lovely, but so...human. He always pictured her in uniform. If the little white jump suit could be called that...
He stepped aside, so if she wished to pass she could. He didn't want to fight. His cloak reached toward her, trying to pull him closer. He had no idea what could be said between them, and he wished he still had a stutter to blame the silence on.
She held that Man's hand, he made her glow, she was flirting, laughing, teasing! Cloak's thoughts were swift and harsh, he pushed them away as quickly as they came.
He saw the aura of light around her and remembered the times she had saved his life by feeding his darkness. Not now, he would not ask her. Ever again. If she knew how the darkness begged for her light, she would be disgusted. So, Cloak stepped farther away, and let her pass if she wished.

He walked out not long after Tandy did and stopped only for a moment as he saw her talking to a dark figure near the alleyway. It cuaght his attention enough to stop his forward movement. He then moved to a spot where he could watch the two talk.

Tandy looked around, and stepped closer to Cloak. "Are you following me?" She wasn't angry, or really surprised just a little irritated. "I thought we talked about this, you want to come and talk to me - that's fine but don't stalk me. It's not right."
She tugged her purse up higher on her shoulder. "Well, I have to go to work, Ty. If you want to talk, it will have to be later."

Cloak resisted the temptation to yell at her. "I am not following you Dagger, I...just noticed you on your date and watched for a moment, and normal person could do the same, you were GLOWING in public. Is your love for that man really worth endangering your life?"
Cloak was a little more then talking now, his voice rumblingly loud. "Go, run off to work, when I truly want to talk, I shall meet you at a more convenient time. I don't want to make you late to anything important."
He stepped away again and brushed the air with his arm, ushering her down the side walk. "Get going."

Tandy checked her watch. She didn't have time for his bitter rants. He obviously was in a lot of pain and in her sympathetic new light, she wanted to placate him with nods and innocent smiles. But she wasn't falling for it again.
He wanted one thing from her. Light. That and someone to hold back and force to fight his battles.
"Cloak, drop by my apartment later, and we'll talk about all of this. I'm not going to do this right now." Tandy struggled to keep her voice even. "I think that if you really think about it, you will realize you are acting very immature."
She walked past him, pausing only to hurl a lightbolt into his cloak. She didn't look back.

He was watching from the a nearby alley. He could feel her surging up to give him a bolt. His left eye glowed as he manipulated her bolt and increased it one hundred fold. It was ten times what dagger would normally give cloak to appease him.
He wanted to see what would happen to this dark figure with such a blast of pure, warm, 'holy' energy.

Cloak flinched at her anger. He hadn't meant to make her angry, he hadn't even meant to see her tonight...But, now she was back to saying he was suppressing her life in her actions and attitude. Cloak didn't agree to meet her in her apartment, he thought that was an odd thing to tell him after her initial anger, then as suddenly as she said it, she was angry again. Women are a mystery. Does she want to see me? Or is she simply trying to get me to leave? Cloak usually wouldn't have been so confused, but her sporadic behavior bothered him, he couldn't help wonder if love had messed with her head.
She pushed by, and Cloak silently watched her go, she turned at the last minute and threw a light dagger at him. Instinctively Cloak allowed it to enter his cape.
His darkness suddenly convulsed, his cloak thrashed as the light destroyed him. He looked at Dagger. Did she know? He hissed through his teeth, trying to keep himself from screaming or attacking her.

Tandy screamed. She grabbed her waist, something was terribly wrong. Her light was spasming and her body was glowing like a over-decked christmas tree.
She heard something behind her but she was in no condition to help anyone. She leaned against a building and tried to steady her breathing. Her heart thrummed wildly and her feet slipped out from under her.
She passed out.
