Cloak didn't bother turning on the lights. He didn't eat, not in the normal sense anyway, and sleep was also something he couldn't enjoy. He stood in the darkness of the church, listening to the sounds of the city.
He would never admit it, not to himself...or her. But, he was lonely.
His darkness had embraced every aspect of his life now. His days on the streets, forcing the evil to face their true natures. And his nights doing the same. Monotony and need were driving him insane.
With no one to talk to, he just stopped talking. He had never spoken much before he was changed into Cloak, his stuttering made sure of that. But now, he just didn't see a reason to talk. The only ones who would hear him would be who he destroyed.
He needed no one. Only those who gave him enough living light to survive. Thugs, criminals, all gave off small doses of light, just enough to keep Cloak alive.
He had just come home, but he had no reason to stay there. Cloak slipped out of the building and headed out to the streets of New York.

" That's him? "
" Yeah. "
The sedan was parked outside inconspicuously as the 2007 Mercedes S class could manage in this part of town. He rolled the window back up and fixed his glasses.
" Why did you bring us here? "
Max cracked his neck. " He's kinfolk, Hangman. You wouldn't understand."
He paused.
"Something tells me he wouldn't either though. " He said, his voice low enough to break into a soft mumble.
Hangman was smart enough not to ask for clarification. " What now, Boss? "
" Follow him. " He lowered his glasses. His dark pupils stared out into the world. " Keep to the shadows. "

Cloak collapsed on the floor. he looked up at the ceiling. His life had never been so confusing...he just laid there, unable to sleep. His breathing deep as he tried to get some form of rest.
Another pain pulsed through his chest. He sat up and gasped, his body was solid, something had shocked his body solid. The agony was stronger, and growing. A sharp sudden jolt urged a groan from his lips, then it was gone, the pain was gone.
Cloak's body drifted back to shadow, he laid back on the floor...the darkness in him suddenly demanding to be satisfied with light. Cloak pushed himself off the floor, his vision blurred for a moment, then cleared.
He wouldn't go out again tonight. He would wait until early morning while it was still dark...then, he would find a villain to attack.

Cloak saw no point in coming home. But, he had no reason to stay out. His darkness had been so twisted and confused by his last encounter with Dagger...that he really didn't want to get near light for a while. So, Cloak went into his darkrealm, just to be sure nothing had been permanently damaged. It seemed as normal, dark and cold as ever. What ever had happened, hadn't messed him up forever. He was still bitterly angry at Tandy. The rotten, back-stabbing, selfish, GIRL! Cloak hoped he never saw her again. He sat on the floor, waiting for the sun's dawning light to come through the stained glass windows. He couldn't stop thinking about Tandy, and every time he did, he grew more angry.

The church's phone rang and rang until it went to the answering machine. "Leave a message..." BEEP.
"Cloak?" Tandy's voice was strong but hesitant. Like she knew he was angry but called anyway. "Cloak, there's a blackout. I think it's Gabriel. We need to stop him."
There was a pause.
"I hope you're not angry with me...I know that things have gotten really bad between us but I hope you know that I'll be there when you need me...and right now...the city needs us. I've got my cell, call me."
Tandy hung up.

Cloak listened to the message. So, her Boyfriend went nuts? Not his problem. She deserved what ever happened to her. Cloak was angry, he was hurt, and he was on the verge of hating that Girl...why was he so drawn to come to her aid? Cloak leaned back onto a pew's leg, why would she think she could call him and he would come running to her? He wasn't anything to her but someone to keep her safe when she needed him. Not a friend, not a partner... Cloak sighed, his pale eyes staring at the ceiling. He had lost a friend, as Ty, there was a robbery, he just happened to be there, and because he stuttered to hard to explain to the police that his friend wasn't involved in the Robbery....He was shot to death, Ty's only friend. Now, he had someone he cared for even more, calling for him, and he could save her. Cloak rose, shaking his head. He wanted to ignore her, he wanted to hate her, part of him did, anger and hatred. Then, his human side begged to believe she needed him.
