He didn't reply at first. He turned to the woman in the corner. " Needle, please leave. " He said. Dutifully, the woman rose, leaving behind her yarn but taking the long thin sowing needle. She headed upstairs quietly and closed the door behind her. The room went quiet for a moment. " I run an organization for certain important figures on Capitol Hill. Consider it an experment in domestic espionage. My job, is to network and infiltrate with impentrable criminal organizations domestically. I, then, will supply enough evidence to the federal government in return for keeping me and my operatives out of jail. " There was a tight smile on his face. " Or...that's what I'll tell them. In actuality, I sow justice and dance upon the bodies of my enemies. My true boss is a power higher than any on this pitiful little mudball. I have stood in her presence. I felt her kiss " He pointed to his face. The spider-brand flaired bright and then died. " She is my true master. "
He grinned. " She lead me to you, Cloak. She has big plans for you. Why do you think you can do what you can do? She wants to train you. She wants you to be her strong sword arm in this world. I am her guiding hand. I offer you peace, peace of mind and control. In return, you serve her majesty. "

"I'm no one's servant. Find yourself another lacky. I don't like what I am, but, I'm not going to be some kind of hit man." Cloak snarled, this was not his kind of thing. The promise of control was temptingly sweet, but the chance of bondage was revolting.
"I will not serve you... or your woman, who you so easily call you Master! Even if I were to have control, I don't want to have my freedom result in slavery. I don't enjoy the deaths I cause, even though the people deserve it...That is an essential part of my living, but I find no joy in it...anyone who delights in death is insane." His cloak opened as he grew angry, the darkness of the inside impenetrable.
Cloak didn't attack, he simply glared at Max, and prepared himself to disappear into the dark realm.Sick, this man gladly kills, and expects me to fall in line! To obey with out question...I'm no ones servant, and no one is my master. I fight the darkness that controls me, but, I haven't succumbed to it yet. I'm not anyone's servant.

The room grew dark as an inexpected result of Cloak's anger. Already the shadows were moving in closer. Max placed his glasses on the desk and stood up. " I'm giving you a chance, Ty. To make sure you don't hurt the ones you love. What? Do you think that little pittance amout of light Tandy gives you is going to sustain you for long? Do you think that you're not gonna start wanting more and more of it? Until one day it finally breaks and you take it all? Think about it! Think about what you've done. What you can do. Do you want all that blood in your hands for a little gravitas? Or would you rather serve a purpose? Kali is justice, Ty. She'll make sure all of these dregs and theives and murders get what's coming to them. All you have to do is fall in line and you get a say on what goes down. " He said.

"Don't try to give me that junk, I don't have anyone. Dagger left months ago. I have no family." Cloak didn't want to let Max smooth talk him into something he didn't want. But, maybe he had taken it the wrong way. I'll give him another chance...
Cloak wanted to serve justice, but, he knew he didn't need a master to tell him what to do. "I came because you said you could help, and because you offered me a chance to do some good. I will not serve your god. But, that does not mean I am unwilling to work with you."
Cloak knew Max might be so tied into 'Kali' that if Cloak was not under her power, he would be of no use. And that would be fine, Cloak would leave, and put this strange thing behind him.
I don't want to hurt the innocent. But I will not be a puppet.

When Cloak left there was silence. Max sat back down. He folded, looking off unfocused to the side. He stroked his chin hair. " I guess that's that then, master. " He said and closed his eyes for a brief moment. He felt a hand touch his forehead. The spider-brand flaired bright and then died. " I understand. " He said. " Move on to the next one. " He added

Cloak wasn't sure he had done the right thing...but, he wasn't going back. The thought of being a servant to some unknown goddess was not his idea of a good life.
Night was deep now, and Cloak just wanted to get home. At least, to the old building he had called home for so long now.

(Thread open) <Literally just out on the streets.> Alicia dialed the number on her cell phone again, she really needed some one to talk too. It rang three times then kicked her to the answering machine. 'You have reached the Fantastic four, please leave a message.' Alicia pressed four, knowing it would send her to Ben's personal line. 'Beep' The phone announced it wanted her to leave a message. "Hey Ben, I'm just wondering where you are, I miss you, and I really am getting worried...Are you mad at me? I'll try again in a few days. Bye." Alicia hung up and continued walking, the show wouldn't be open for a few more hours, so Alicia thought she could wander and listen to what was going on in the world. The chatter of people, the rattle of subways, everything was so...normal. She had walked around the city for no reason many times. But, she couldn't get over how sure the Gallery owner had sounded when he said, you won't be showing your art much of anywhere... Alicia had been finding it harder and harder to sell or display her work. She continued down the street, counting her steps and lost in thought.
